The Clinical usefulness of Coincidence System by Measurement of Spatial Resolution

Kweon Oh-Jin
Abstract
This study is to compare spatial resolution using the 18F-FDG Positron-Emission Tomography(PET) System with coincidence system and make sure clinical usefulness of coincidence system. This study is used of NaI Dual head coincidence system (E. CAM+, Siemens), PET system (Advance, GE), Deluxe ECT Phantom and FDG 1 mCi. Using Deluxe ECT Phantom acquired to coincidence Image is following matrix size 128 x 128, angle 5.6¡Æ, time 40 sec, radius 22.5 cm. PET image acquired such as emission scan time 7 minutes and transmission scan time 5 minutes. It is coincidence image reconstruct that subset 4, iteration 8, 3D smooth 6, Metz filter 0.5, order value 20 and Chang¡¯s Attenuation Coefficient is 0.15. It is PET image reconstruct that subset 28, iteration 2, post filter 6.0, Loop filter 4.3, Gaussian Filter 8. The Full Width of Half Maximum (FWHM) is calculated a phantom image as to horizontal line of cold spot in the each spheres and the phantom study compared coincidence image of clinical patient with PET image. As the result is that Coincidence system is displayed 15.9 mm spheres of the Deluxe ECT Phantom and PET system is displayed 12.7 mm spheres and FWHM of the coincidence system is 17.58 mm and PET system is 10.992 mm. Coincidence image could see about 15 mm size therefore coincidence image is inferior to PET image in the spatial resolution. However taking all installation costs of coincidence system into consideration acquire valid clinical information when PET system broke down. In the future, coincidence system will be proceed various clinical study with PET system and develop quantitative analysis system
